Here we have a range of wine bottles, cut to form the 'lid' of a tea light candle holder.
The base is designed to hold a single tea light (either flame or battery). There are channels cut into the base to allow air flow to keep the candle flame alight.
Pictures show 2 variants of the base - the octagonal shape is oak, and the round base is spalted ash. The ash base has a metal staple across the crack, to limit further splitting.
The bases are finished with clear wax.
The bottles shown are from Pommery Champagne, Freixenet Prosecco or a plain glass wine bottle.
Ideal for outdoor use, as the bottle help reduce the flames being blown out.
Warning - using lit tea lights will cause the glass bottle to get quite hot. Either wait for the candle to go out and for the glass to coll, or remove the bottle using oven gloves or similar.
